A collaboration between Laureus and global storytelling organization Goal Click Through her Eyes includes 22 women and girls from 11 Laureus-supported programs who used analogue cameras to document their experiences doing what they love. SHORT FILM CAPTURES HAITI’S HISTORIC WORLD CUP IMPACT THROUGH GOALS HAITI
The short film “Footsteps” has been released by Naomi Osaka’s production company Hana Kuma, in partnership with Play Academy grantee partner GOALS Haiti. It offers a fresh perspective on how the Haitian National Women’s team are creating a blueprint for girls back home. Learn more

Local goalkeeper headed to world cup
The goalie began playing soccer as a young girl on the streets of Haiti with anyone who would join her and in anything she had on, from her church-service dresses to everyday clothes. At 9 years old she joined the GOALS Haiti soccer academy, which prepares young players with potential and utilizes soccer and education to build stronger, healthier communities in the country’s rural areas. SPORTS BREAK LANGUAGE BARRIERS, UNITE YOUTH PROGRAM LEADERS
We were honored to present our work at the Laureus Sport for Good foundation Annual Summit in London. The focus was on coaching girls in sport and gender equity. Around 170 programs from across the globe, representing 43 countries engaged in interactive workshops, listened on panel discussions and got to network with programs from around the world. Learn more

To commemorate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the FIFA Foundation announced 114 organizations from 54 countries (including GOALS Haiti) will benefit from financial support under its Community Programme in 2023. Learn more

Beyond Sport interviewed our Executive Director for their series on how sport is addressing humanitarian crises. “When I speak with staff and program participants there is the feeling that without our programs kids would not have a positive outlet in their lives. The collective stress from living in crisis upon crisis is fatiguing and weighs on everyone in Haiti no matter where you are located. For youth to have a space to be kids, spend time with their friends, play a game and reduce that stress is more important now than ever before.” Learn more
empowering girls through play
Play Academy with Naomi Osaka is a program created through a partnership between Naomi Osaka, NIKE, Inc., and Laureus Sport for Good, with the goal of changing girls’ lives through play and sport. With the support of Play Academy’s funding GOALS added a program teaching about gender-based violence that helps kids understand what it means, identifying warning signs, and how to defend themselves. It is part of the process of equipping the next generation of leaders. Learn more
